Lake Mangamahoe

Lake Mangamahoe

Take a short drive from New Plymouth to one of the city's most iconic landmarks.
From the quintessential photo of the elusive Mt Taranaki framed by mature trees and lake in the foreground to the kilometres of trails for walking, mountain biking, or horse riding, Lake Mangamahoe is the perfect day out in nature, with abundant wildlife.

Walking trails: Enjoy 6km of offroad trails, rated medium/hard due to undulating terrain, occasional steep sections, steps and mud in places. The scenery makes the sweat worthwhile.

Mountain Bike trails: Purpose-built trails start at Plantation Rd, with grades to suit all skill levels. Tracks are well maintained, though some trails can be muddy or greasy after rain. Ample signposting makes the trails easy to navigate, with grades appearing at all trail entrances for everybody's enjoyment and safety.

A bike wash station equipped with tools is inside the trail entrance.

Lake Mangamahoe is a must-visit.
