Pukeiti Gardens

Don’t let the visitor information centre and cafe fool you, nor be put off by the manicured rhododendron gardens if you’re looking for more of a bush walk. 

Located in the Kaitake Ranges northwest of Mt Taranaki, a 360-ha reserve in a native rainforest setting. Beyond the 26ha of internationally significant rhododendron gardens, the walking tracks continue, providing 21km of tracks to explore, including various points of interest, including Pukeiti Summit and Piwakawaka Hut. 

Cyclist-friendly Pukeiti has E-bike charging and bike repair stations. The ride from New Plymouth is as popular as it is scenic.
