Rapurapu Kauri Track
Beginning from a small car park on the Waikato side of the Kaimai range, the track gently makes its way to the bush line. The track is predominately flat, the occasionally fallen logs adding an authentic tramping feel and a bit of extra adventure for kids. Allow 90 minutes each way (3 hours return).
The trail crosses the Rapurapu stream eight times, making for wet feet early on. At the final crossing, the three towering Kauri can be seen from a large boulder in the river ahead of the short board walked climb to their base.
Keep the kids entertained along the walk by hunting for fungi, spotting unfurling ferns and a photo pushing up a leaning tree.
