Blue Range Hut

Put on your red shoes and dance the blues. The two-hour (each way) walk to Blue Range Hut requires ample climbing, but the rewards will leave you anything but blue. Packed with character and history, this is undoubtedly the coolest little hut yet! Out the back, enjoy views out into the Tararua's from the blue range, if the cloud stays away.
The predator control programme in the Tararua's means there is ample birdsong to keep you company along the way, and if you are lucky, you might spot a Tomtit at the top.

This hut is NOT bookable and operates on a first-come basis. For more details, see the Department of Conservation website.
