Waitanguru Falls

In the towering hills behind Pio Pio is Waitanguru Falls, an easily accessible 15-metre-high waterfall. The track descends a series of steps to a viewing platform, returning the same way, A 15-minute return journey. The horsetail waterfall provides a gentle mist of water in the canyon and over the viewing platform when experiencing moderate flow.
Getting there:
From the township of Pio Pio, turn into Mangaotaki Rd for 19km, with the car park and track entrance on your right.

Be sure to allow enough time to take a short walk around the Mangataki Scenic Reserve bush walk located 11km before the falls on Mangaotaki Rd.
